The information presented within this webpage is designed to help beginning volleyball coaches understand how to teach the volleyball skills and playing strategies effectively. It is hoped that the information available will help to lessen coaching frustration and to ensure that the players have a positive and successful volleyball experience.
A majority of the information gathered at this website is based on what has worked for me. I fully admit that the information presented here is not the only way to approach volleyball. A wise coach will continue to collect as much information as possible from different sources. Great coaches will create, explore, learn from others and create their own coaching handbooks.
Many thanks need to go to Julie Kauffman, former Middletown, OH head coach, Julie Hall, Peg Poling, former Piqua, OH head coaches and Connie Surrowicz, former Wittenburg University and Ashland College head coach. Their patience and willingness to answer my questions went a long way to my success.
Thanks must also go to the many young athletes who I have had the priveledge to coach. Their willingness to let me teach and coach them gave me the motivation to acquire the information presented here.
