"WE CAN'T ACCEPT NOT TRYING!"

1 Peter 1:15-16

Champions are not born champions. Superior athletes do not have a superior human nature. They make the same tactical and technique mistakes that you make. The difference lies in their resolution. People "on fire" do not simply admire winning or merely wish it were so. They make up their minds to succeed with no dilution of their efforts. Are you as determined to help your team win as you are in your personal pursuit of prestige, respect and fame?

Many players ask "What do I have to do to be successful?" Our answer is "Will it!" You must be determined, totally. Mere respectability and going along most of the way are not enough. A refined mediocrity, so common among lesser players and teams does not respond to the second greatest commandment , a total love for your teammates. This love enables you to make the sacrifices necessary to help your teammates achieve success against teams with greater physical talent.

Is your display of love for your teammates diluted or full of half-hearted efforts? Or do your efforts in practice and comraderie on and off the court resemble your description of a team player?

Set your personal goals very high. Realize that if you aim for something less, it is likely that you shall not achieve even that.
